Upholsterer – Furniture Manufacturing
Pay: $DOE (Depending on Experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Upholsterer to join our furniture manufacturing team. This position is responsible for upholstering the inside of sofas, chairs, and other upholstered furniture using established upholstery techniques and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, good hand skills, and experience working with fabric, leather, and upholstery tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Upholster the inside of sofas, chairs, and other furniture according to quality and production specifications.
- Transport furniture frames to and from the workstation.
- Position furniture frames on bucks or scissor lifts for safe and efficient access.
- Install and secure upholstery materials using a staple gun, scissors, staple puller, regulator, and other hand tools.
- Stretch, position, and pull fabric or leather to achieve a professional, wrinkle-free finish.
- Inspect completed work and correct repairs or defects before moving on to the next piece.
- Recognize furniture parts, patterns, fabric textures, and color variations to ensure quality and consistency.
- Follow work tickets, job notes, and production instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Properly store tools, equipment, and supplies at the end of each shift.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE, including safety glasses.
- Report unsafe conditions or quality concerns to the department supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Upholstery experience is required.
- Knowledge of furniture upholstery methods and production processes.
- Ability to complete upholstery work according to established quality standards.
- Experience working with fabric and/or leather preferred.
- Comfortable using staple guns, scissors, staple pullers, and other upholstery tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize furniture components and patterns.
- Ability to read and understand work tickets and job instructions in English.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for 8+ hours per shift.
- Ability to lift and handle 50+ lbs.; heavier items require team lifting.
- Ability to safely lift, remove, and position furniture frames using a scissor lift.
- Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements, including pinching, pulling, stretching, and manipulating fabric and leather.
- Frequent use of staple guns and scissors throughout the shift.
- Ability to closely inspect fabric, patterns, textures, and color variations for quality control.
- Work is performed 100% indoors in an environmentally controlled manufacturing facility.
