Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated School Age Group Lead Teacher / Driver to join our vibrant team! In this dual role, you will lead engaging activities for children in our school-age program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. As a driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting children to and from local schools and various activities and locations in the summer, maintaining compliance with all safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on children’s development while demonstrating leadership and professionalism. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, experienced in childcare or education, and committed to fostering a joyful learning atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Lead dynamic and age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development for school-age children.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities, including field trips and special events.
- Operate vehicles safely to transport children to designated locations, adhering strictly to traffic laws and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, activity logs, and incident reports as needed.
- Implement first aid protocols promptly in case of minor injuries or emergencies, including CPR and AED operation when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to plan youth programs that foster leadership, teamwork, and personal growth aligned with developmental best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, or youth program settings.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive environment conducive to learning and fun.
- Age 23 years or older with a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating passenger vehicles safely is preferred.
- BSAC (basic school age care course) competed or willingness to complete upon hire
- Familiarity with childhood development principles and behavior management techniques.
- Experience facilitating youth group activities or outdoor work experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage children effectively while maintaining professionalism.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions; flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
