Job Overview
The Senior Payroll Specialist serves as a key point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and issue resolution. This position is responsible for supporting payroll operations across multiple countries and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Process complex multi-country payrolls accurately and on time while ensuring compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local payroll regulations.
- Manage off-cycle payments, payroll adjustments, and final pay calculations.
- Prepare and submit required payroll filings and reports, including W-2s and T4s.
- Validate and correct payroll data prior to processing.
- Investigate, escalate, and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased payroll efficiency.
- Interpret and apply payroll policies and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain and audit employee payroll records, including tax withholdings, benefits, and direct deposits.
- Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate on payroll system upgrades, integrations, and configuration to support regional consistency.
- Support the implementation of standardized payroll workflows.
- Assist with the documentation and implementation of standardized payroll procedures.
- Provide input on payroll process harmonization, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with employees and cross-functional stakeholders to address payroll-related questions and concerns.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or a minimum of 7 years of relevant payroll experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations.
- 5+ years of experience processing complex payroll in a multi-state environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing, data entry, and reconciliation.
