Teacher Assistant (Union)
Location: 28744 Simmons Road, Perrysburg, OH 43551
Schedule: Monday - Thursday (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Weekly Hours: 34 hours per week (August - June)
Employment Type: Seasonal Full-Time
Pay Rate: $18.00 - $19.61 per hour, based on education
Position Overview:
Provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool children. Support daily classroom activities, assist with implementing lesson plans, and ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable regulations.

Education:
High school diploma or GED
Per Head Start requirements, Teacher Assistants must also meet one of the following:

Hold a CDA credential (or equivalent state-awarded certificate)
-
Be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hire
-
Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree
Experience:
Early childhood development or related childcare experience preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementing developmentally appropriate activities and strategies which support the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of preschool children.

Assist with providing an age-appropriate learning environment that allows for individual differences.

Assist with promoting and encouraging a positive learning environment and nurturing teacher child interactions.

Substitute for teaching staff; assist with classroom activities.

Organize, sanitize and store classroom equipment and supplies.

Recruit and direct volunteers.

Assist in conducting 2 educational home visits per child per year.

Maintain accurate records and submit records as requested.

Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Additional Requirements:

Initial and periodic physical exams required.

Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks.

Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing.
