Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible to
-
support Quality Management system in collaboration with other employees, suppliers and customers,
-
lead resolution of quality issues in plastics blow molding machines, which consist of mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, electronics and software components,
-
work with and/or lead cross-functional teams in resolution of product and process nonconformities by root cause analysis, planning and driving to completion action plans and engineering changes,
-
provide training and assure compliance with requirements,
-
utilize quality core tools and enforce quality management principles,
-
support achievement of quality objectives and improvement of quality, safety and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-
perform visual and measurement inspections and evaluate compliance of products and processes,
-
identify, document and communicate information concerning nonconformities and quality issues,
-
collect, organize, analyze and present findings and data,
-
prepare quality documents and records,
-
utilize quality tools such as Pareto, SPC, GR&R and DOE,
-
act as a customer liaison and lead resolution of customer complaints,
-
oversee and assist suppliers with interpretation of quality requirements, investigation, root cause analysis and planning and implementation of corrections and corrective actions, while leading cross-functional teams, working independently and in a group setting,
-
interface with customer contacts to clarify customer requirements and close customer complaints,
-
evaluate and assist in development of product and process inspection criteria, key characteristics, inspection and sampling plans,
-
represent Quality department in design and launch reviews,
-
conduct internal audits and support management reviews,
-
evaluate, process and approve document change requests,
-
read drawings and schematics, evaluate correct application of GD&T, proper use of process and material specifications and designation of key characteristics for inspection,
-
support measurement and analysis of KPI scores,
-
follow applicable procedures and work instructions, use forms to create quality records,
-
facilitate control of documents and records,
-
support other Uniloy plants in implementation of initiatives of the Tecumseh, MI headquarters,
-
reinforce product and workplace safety requirements,
-
perform other professional duties assigned by Quality Manager.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor degree from an accredited academic institution,
-
3 years of experience working as Quality Engineer at ISO 9001 certified company.
-
Advanced user experience in MS Office applications.
Preferred qualifications:
-
studies or knowledge in some or all of the following: mechanical, electromechanical, mechatronics and electronics components, metals and plastics processing, machinery, tooling, plastics extrusion and molding, metrology and GD&T, AIAG core tools, leading Kaizen events and product and process validation,
-
ASQ CQE and other certifications,
-
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification,
-
experience in management of supplier quality affairs, including CAPA plans, scorecards and supplier audits,
-
experience operating or programming a CMM,
-
experience working in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulated environment,
-
experience using ERP systems, i.e.: Epicor, 3DX, etc.

Work Environment:
Office and Manufacturing environments.
The Employee may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of electrical, heat and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, moving forklift, etc.
This position requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, driving, reading, seeing, listening, speaking, concentration and an in-personal communication.
