HerScan is a fast-growing, mission-driven mobile breast ultrasound company bringing supplemental breast cancer screening directly to women in their communities. Our mission is to help close the gap in breast cancer detection for women with dense breast tissue by making supplemental screening more accessible, convenient, and patient-centered. We’re looking for an experienced, ARDMS-certified breast sonographer to step into a unique hybrid role that combines clinical leadership, remote team support, radiologist collaboration, training, and field coverage across our national mobile network.
This is not a traditional hospital sonographer role, nor is it a standard fixed-territory scanning role. This position is designed for a highly experienced sonographer who wants to use their clinical expertise more broadly—supporting other sonographers, improving scan quality, helping train the team, and stepping in when field coverage is needed.
The right person for this role is flexible, independent, clinically excellent, and energized by variety. Some weeks may be primarily remote, focusing on clinical support, team training, protocol reinforcement, radiologist communication, and quality improvement. Other weeks may require travel, sometimes on short notice, to cover events when a sonographer is sick, on leave, unavailable, or when a territory needs temporary support.
Why This Role Is Different
A broader clinical leadership role
You’ll do more than scan. You’ll help support and develop other sonographers, reinforce HerScan protocols, troubleshoot clinical questions, collaborate with radiologists, and contribute to quality improvement across the organization.
Meaningful field impact
When coverage is needed, you’ll travel to support patients and keep events running. Your work helps prevent cancellations and ensures women continue to receive access to potentially life-changing supplemental breast screening.
Remote work plus travel variety
This role includes remote clinical support work as well as travel-based scanning coverage. It is ideal for someone who enjoys independence, problem-solving, and variety rather than doing the exact same schedule every week.
Autonomy and trust
You’ll be trusted to manage your work professionally, communicate clearly, and represent HerScan well with patients, sonographers, radiologists, and facility partners.
Mission-driven work
Every scan matters. Supplemental breast ultrasound can help identify findings that may otherwise go unnoticed, especially for women with dense breast tissue. Your work supports a national movement to make this screening more accessible.
Schedule & Travel Expectations
This is a flexible, salaried clinical leadership and travel coverage role.
When coverage is needed, the Lead Breast Sonographer may travel to support HerScan events in different markets. Travel may be required on short notice, including situations where coverage needs arise the day before an event. Trips may range from a few days to multiple weeks, depending on business needs.
This role may include weekday and occasional weekend coverage depending on event schedules and market needs. HerScan does not operate on major holidays.
This position is best suited for someone who is comfortable with a variable schedule, short-notice travel, and a mix of remote clinical support and hands-on scanning.
