Café Operator Job Summary
We are looking for a Café Operator to oversee the day-to-day operations of our café and ensure a smooth, efficient, and welcoming environment for both customers and staff. This role is responsible for supervising team members, maintaining high standards of customer service, managing inventory, ensuring food safety compliance, and supporting daily café operations.
The Café Operator will work closely with the owners to provide operational updates, identify areas for improvement, and help drive the café’s success. The ideal candidate is organized, hands-on, customer-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality beverages, food, and service standards.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service to enhance their café experience
- Operate POS systems accurately for sales transactions, cash handling, and order processing
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, with precision and care
- Handle food preparation tasks in accordance with food safety standards, including food handling and basic food prep
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, adhering to food safety regulations and sanitation protocols
- Manage cash register operations, including cashiering duties and basic retail math to ensure accurate transactions
- Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and monitoring product quality to ensure freshness and presentation excellence
Skills
- Proven experience as a barista or in food service within a café or retail environment
- Strong knowledge of POS systems for efficient sales processing
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and positively with diverse customers
- Effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and transaction accuracy
- Knowledge of food safety standards, proper food handling procedures, and food preparation techniques
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining attention to detail

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
