We are seeking a highly accomplished Business Services Sector Specialist to join Carlson Capital's investment team. This role is designed for an analyst with deep public-equity experience in the sector who wants to apply that expertise within a disciplined, market-neutral Equity Relative Value (EqRV) framework. The Specialist will be responsible for generating differentiated long/short pair ideas across large-cap Business Services companies, supported by Carlson's proprietary pairs analysis process, a world-class trading desk, and a suite of quantitative tools built on our own data collected over the past 30 years of relative value pairs trading.
The successful candidate will work directly with the CIO, own a defined sector research effort, and translate Business Services expertise into actionable pair-trade opportunities for Carlson's funds.
Role Overview

Generate actionable investment ideas within the Business Services sector for inclusion in Carlson Capital funds.

Build financial models to evaluate financial statements, market trends, earnings revisions, industry data, and economic indicators to assess pair trading opportunities within the sector.

Maintain comparative valuation work across Business Services peer groups.

Collaborate with the CIO and other Sector Specialists to develop investment ideas around current trends, themes, earnings inflections, and valuation dislocations.

Monitor portfolio-relevant developments, including earnings, guidance, industry data, regulatory changes, labor trends, and macroeconomic factors.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.

4+ years of experience analyzing large-cap public equities, with specific experience covering Business Services companies for a hedge fund, asset manager, sell-side research platform, or investment banking group.

Demonstrated ability to build detailed financial models, forecast earnings, evaluate valuation spreads, and compare companies across closely related peer groups.

Deep understanding of Business Services business models, including recurring revenue, contract structures, customer retention, pricing power, labor intensity, utilization, roll-up strategies, and free cash flow conversion.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present a concise, investable thesis to senior investment leadership.

Ability to work independently while collaborating with the CIO, traders, risk professionals, and other Sector Specialists.
