Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Car Hauler Driver specialized in transporting multiple vehicles, including up to nine cars, across various routes. This energetic role involves safely maneuvering tractor-trailers designed for automobile transportation, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. As a Car Hauler Driver, you will be the key to maintaining our fleet’s efficiency and customer satisfaction by expertly loading, securing, and unloading vehicles along designated routes. Your expertise in commercial truck driving combined with a passion for precision will drive our success forward.
Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailers equipped for multi-vehicle transport, including flatbed and specialized car hauler trailers.
- Load and unload vehicles efficiently using manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Secure vehicles properly to prevent damage during transit, following logistics cargo handling best practices.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems, ensuring adherence to over-the-road (OTR) driving routes and schedules.
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and hazardous goods handling standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure safety and compliance with trucking regulations.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered during transit.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers designed for automobile transportation.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, hazard materials regulations, and hazardous goods handling.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and truck loading/unloading procedures for freight and vehicles.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
- Experience with refrigerated trailers or tanker trucks is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to truck driving, load securement, and dangerous goods management.
