Retail Sales Associate – Sewing & Quilting Store

About the Position
We’re In Stitches is seeking a friendly, dependable Retail Sales Associate to assist customers and support the daily operation of our Greenville store.
This is a hands-on retail position involving customer service, sewing-machine sales and demonstrations, fabric cutting, merchandise handling, point-of-sale transactions, telephone assistance, and general store upkeep.
The right candidate will be comfortable approaching customers, learning about our products, answering questions, and helping customers select merchandise that fits their needs. Sewing, quilting, embroidery, or machine-sales experience is helpful, but we will train a motivated candidate who is willing to learn.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide attentive, professional assistance
- Ask questions to understand each customer’s needs
- Explain merchandise and make appropriate product recommendations
- Learn to demonstrate sewing, quilting, embroidery, and longarm machines
- Answer incoming telephone calls and assist with customer questions
- Cut and measure fabric accurately
- Process purchases, returns, and other transactions through the point-of-sale system
- Receive, price, organize, and restock merchandise
- Maintain attractive and orderly product displays
- Keep sales areas, counters, classrooms, and other assigned areas clean and organized
- Assist with store promotions, events, classes, and special sales
- Follow store procedures and communicate customer concerns to management
- Perform other reasonable duties necessary to support the store and its customers
Qualifications
- Retail sales or customer-service experience is preferred
- Sewing, quilting, embroidery, or craft-industry knowledge is required
- Friendly, professional, and comfortable speaking with customers
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow established procedures
- Willing and able to learn sewing machines, accessories, fabric, notions, and related products
- Comfortable using a computer and point-of-sale system
- Able to accurately handle transactions and basic measurements
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Available to work Saturdays and other scheduled store hours as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the store for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, stock shelves, and handle merchandise
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds independently
- Ability to participate in a team lift for merchandise weighing more than 35 pounds
