MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.

Three years of full-time experience in coaching, athletics program administration, teaching, or closely related experience.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Valid Florida Department of Education (DOE) teaching certificate or an Athletic Coaching certificate.
-
Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Valid drivers license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree from an accredited institution in Education Sports Management, or Athletic Administration.

Experience with sports program administration in a public school district.

Valid Athletic Coaching certificate issued by the Florida Department of Education.

Current National Interscholastic Athletic Administrator Association (NIAAA) certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply the rules and regulations of the Florida High School Athletics Association (FHSAA).

Knowledge of budget management principles, practices, and procedures.

Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Ability to work in a collaborative and professional manner with district leadership, school staff, parent, students, and members of the community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Oversee and provide leadership of all school athletic and extracurricular programs.

Ensure compliance with all district, FHSAA, and national requirements regarding eligibility of athletic and activity participants, physicals, insurance forms or insurance waiver, parent consent, and student grade reports.

Maintain accurate records for eligibility, physicals, and participation.
-
Create and maintain schedules for practices, games, competitions, and events.
-
Coordinate transportation, facility use, officials, and event supervision.
-
Develop and manage annual budgets for athletics and activities.
-
Oversee purchase, inventory, and maintenance of uniforms, equipment, and facility needs.

Coordinate fundraising efforts and seek sponsorships or grants when applicable.
-
Attend and supervise events as needed, including evenings and weekends.
-
Hire, mentor, and ensure compliance of all coaching staff and activity sponsors. Ensure adherence of all coaching standards.

Coordinate all Activities/Athletic programs with booster clubs and other organizations, including sponsorship or financial agreements and concessions.

Promote positive sportsmanship and ethical conduct among coaching and activities staff and students.

Administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines.
