Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. This role involves supporting various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial data entry, reconciliation, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, experience with multiple financial software systems, and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity. The Accounting Clerk will play a vital role in maintaining the accuracy of our financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Perform data entry of financial transactions into accounting systems such as QuickBooks.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP and company policies
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including account analysis and account reconciliation
- Handle bookkeeping tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
- Support budgeting activities and financial analysis using Excel data analysis tools
- Ensure confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve accounting workflows
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting.
- Familiarity with financial software such as Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger management
- Experience working with accounting systems like QuickBooks or similar platforms is preferred
- Knowledge of financial concepts such as budgeting, account analysis, and financial acumen is essential
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping
- Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Prior experience in accounts payable/receivable management or bookkeeping is highly desirable
