Position Type

This position operates in an in-person work environment.
Responsibilities:
-
Follow Daily Procedures and regulations as set forth in job orientations and trainings and Safety Handbooks. Follow all OSHA guidelines. Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent or Safety Facilitator.

Building structures required to the specifications of the job. Platforms, stairs, concrete forms, framework, temporary frame shelters, etc.

Examine drawings, sketches, building plans and form drawings to determine material required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.

Use form carpentry hand tools such as levels, squares, plumb bobs, hammers, hand and power saws, adjustable wrenches, drill motors, reciprocating saws, pry bars, etc. Supply of non-electric/pneumatic hand tools is required.

Prepare layout of form or fixture to be fabricated using grades and layout lines. Construct forms, chutes and align form panels for pouring concrete and grout.

Install temporary handrails, stairs and ladders. Erect and dismantle scaffolding.

Ability to tie rebar.

Coordinate with the Project Superintendent the needs of the project, which include equipment and personnel.

Responsible for safe working condition and compliance with all safety plans. These will include but are not limited to OSHA, EM-385, site specific plans, and Miss Utilities.

Education / Years of Experience

5+ years’ experience preferred
Skills

Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy construction work.• Knowledge in mathematics is required.

Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral directions.

Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
-
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Licensure / Certifications / Credentials:

Valid drivers license preferred

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to provide documentation verifying employment eligibility.
Availability:
-
Full time (40 hours) : Monday - Friday
-
Possibility of overtime.
-
May require Saturday or Sunday work.
Work Site Environment:
-
Near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, asphalt and raw sewer.
Location / Commuting / Travel:
-
Candidates must currently reside within commuting distance of the Hampton Roads region, including Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Newport News, or Portsmouth.

Candidates are responsible for their own transportation to and from work locations.
-
This role requires regular travel to project and job sites as part of normal job responsibilities.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, during site visits.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and protective footwear while on construction sites.

Ability to safely navigate active construction environments that may include noise, dust, moving equipment, and other construction-related hazards.

Ability to occasionally lift or carry materials, documents, or equipment up to 50 pounds.
