The Longview, TX team is adding a Mechanic I to the team. The Mechanic I will perform intermediate-level mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to maintain equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including motors, conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in a timely and effective manner to support production operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Fabricate and install mechanical components as needed using hand and power tools.
- Perform equipment inspections and document findings using maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Assist in root cause analysis for recurring mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following safety protocols and company procedures.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff, electricians, engineers, and operators to support equipment performance.
- Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provide guidance and support to junior mechanics as needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical systems preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance roles.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with CMMS and basic computer skills.
- Welding and fabrication experience a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in various conditions (indoor/outdoor, hot/cold, noisy environments).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
