Position Description
Performs advanced and specialized drafting, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
Assists in planning and coordinating office operations.
Assists in writing general notes, specifications and provisions.
Performs advanced and specialized design work.

Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic
presentations that include distinctive design features. -
Performs traffic engineering design work, analyzes traffic and accident data and recommends solutions for traffic
problems. -
Prepares field notes.

Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps.

Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.
-
Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience: 6 years drafting, design, plan preparation. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
