Book Nook is entering an exciting new chapter, and we are looking for a reliable, friendly, and organized person to join our team.
We are a community-focused used bookstore with thousands of books, longtime customers, and a mission to create a welcoming, whimsical place where people can explore, relax, and discover something new.
Position Details
- Part-time position
- Shifts available Monday through Saturday
- Daytime availability preferred
- 20 hours per week
- Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and help them locate books
- Operate the checkout system and process purchases
- Sort, price, shelve, and organize books
- Evaluate incoming books using established store guidelines
- Maintain clean, safe, and accessible aisles and work areas
- Assist with displays, promotions, events, and social-media content
- Complete basic opening, closing, and inventory tasks
- Support the store’s transition to new technology and operating systems
We Are Looking For Someone Who Is
- Dependable, punctual, and honest
- Patient and respectful with customers and coworkers
- Comfortable working independently and following procedures
- Interested in books, reading, learning, or community service
- Able to perform detailed and repetitive tasks accurately
- Willing to learn bookstore technology and inventory systems
- Able to safely lift and move boxes of books, with reasonable accommodations available
Previous bookstore or retail experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
