Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. As a DSP, you will provide compassionate, personalized care and support, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, and hygiene.
- Support residents with medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations.
- Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each person’s needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders support.
- Help with meal preparation, cooking, and maintaining cleanliness in the living environment to promote health and safety.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings using personal transportation or agency vehicles.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.
- Support residents in engaging in recreational activities and community involvement to foster socialization and independence.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations by administering first aid or CPR when necessary; ensure safety at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Strong ability to assist with ADLs including personal care assistance and meal preparation.
- Excellent client communication skills; compassionate approach to caregiving is a must.
- Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and maintaining a safe environment.
- Valid certifications in CPR and first aid; experience working within HIPAA guidelines is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and care plan implementation.
- Prior experience in home & community care settings or long-term care environments is advantageous.
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
