Substance Abuse Registered Nurse (RN) – Residential Program
Location: Flemington, NJ
Schedule: Full-time | On-call rotation for after-hours medical needs
Good News Home Inc. is a licensed residential substance use treatment program serving up to 12 women across short-term, long-term, and aftercare levels of care. We are seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to support our mission of providing trauma-informed, evidence-based care in a faith-centered environment.
The RN plays a critical role in ensuring medical safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality care in accordance with DMHAS, NJSAMS, ASAM, and NJ Board of Nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Medical Oversight

Conduct intake nursing assessments and complete all required DMHAS medical screenings.

Document medical histories, medication reconciliation, communicable disease screening, and risk assessments.

Develop and update individualized medical care plans aligned with ASAM criteria.

Administer medications and maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs) in compliance with DMHAS regulations.

Monitor client health status, complete scheduled evaluations, and document progress in accordance with NJSAMS and program policy.

Provide health education and facilitate wellness groups, including topics related to addiction, chronic conditions, and recovery.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

Ensure all nursing documentation meets DMHAS, NJSAMS, Medicaid, and licensing requirements.

Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute nursing input to multidisciplinary care planning.

Maintain staff health records, immunization documentation, and emergency contact information per state standards.

Assist with audits, quality assurance reviews, incident reporting, and corrective action plans.
Coordination & Emergency Response

Coordinate care with external medical and behavioral health providers.

Arrange referrals, follow-up appointments, and continuity of care.

Provide crisis intervention and respond to medical emergencies in accordance with program protocols.

Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours medical concerns.
Program Support

Provide staff training on medication safety, infection control, and health procedures.

Attend staff meetings and maintain required annual trainings (CPR/BLS, infection control, cultural competency, etc.).

Requirements:
- Active, unrestricted New Jersey RN license required.

BSN preferred; ADN with relevant experience considered.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or residential care preferred.

Strong knowledge of addiction, withdrawal management, co-occurring disorders, and DSM 5 terminology.

Experience with DMHAS licensed programs or NJSAMS documentation strongly preferred.

BLS certification required; ACLS or crisis intervention certification preferred.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to perform accurate assessments and implement appropriate interventions.
