Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Sushi Chef to join our team for a four-day workweek, primarily during night shifts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to craft exquisite sushi dishes in a lively, fast-paced environment. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese cuisine, ensuring every plate meets our standards of freshness, presentation, and flavor. Your expertise will contribute to delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests while maintaining the highest food safety and hygiene standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble sushi and Japanese dishes with precision, creativity, and consistency during night shifts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
- Manage ingredient inventory, monitor freshness, and ensure proper storage of seafood and other perishables.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service during busy hours.
- Follow menu specifications closely while adding innovative touches to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Ensure proper knife skills are utilized for slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients efficiently and safely.
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi creations or seasonal specials based on customer preferences.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within fine dining or high-end restaurants.
- Strong knowledge of food handling, safety procedures, and sanitation standards in the food industry.
- Demonstrated culinary experience with excellent knife skills and food preparation techniques.
- Background in restaurant or catering environments with a focus on Japanese cuisine or sushi preparation.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Familiarity with food industry best practices including meal preparation, food service, and kitchen operations.
