Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team.
In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. Your work will involve fostering independence and promoting dignity for those in your care, ensuring they receive the necessary support in a safe and nurturing environment.
Case details
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 9am - 2pm or 8:30am - 1:30pm.
- Client requires continuous supervision and must remain within line of sight at all times due to behavioral support needs.
- The client is high-functioning. Needs lots of verbal reminders to adjust water temperature, to chew their food more, and take smaller bites, to get dressed, and to wash their hands.
- Organizing her room, creating lists and routines, and developing consistent cleaning habits. Accompanying her to the gym, the client enjoys walking, so any DSP candidates will be expected to take frequent walks around the mall or outside.
Duties
- Assist with daily living activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, organizing, and meal preparation.
- Provide support for individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their needs are met in a respectful manner.
- Engage the client in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and personal development accordingly.
- Support the individual in the home and within the community
- Administer CPR and first aid when necessary
Requirements
- 1 year of experience working in a private home or in a group setting as a DSP or home health aide
- First Aid and CPR Certified
- 1 year of experience working with people with disabilities, elderly, and special needs
- 1 year of experience working with individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality
- Ability to assist individuals with daily living activities (ADLs) effectively
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to caregiving
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, and lift at least 20 lbs
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
