Overview
Children's Trust, a regional not-for-profit with a Mission to prevent and reduce the occurrence and trauma of child abuse and neglect, is in search of its next Executive Director to lead the organization into the future.
This leader will have broad leadership responsibilities, in concert with the Board of Directors and staff, for strategic development, growth, operational and financial oversight, and philanthropy.
Children’s Trust has sustained over 40 years of successful community advocacy and a reputation for programming excellence and organizational effectiveness. The Agency has a continuum of programs geographically distributed throughout southwestern Virginia.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director is a senior level executive with progressive leadership experiences that will continually assess opportunities and implement programs aimed at sustaining Children’s Trust’s position as a community leader in addressing the challenges associated with all forms of child abuse and neglect. As the organization’s leader, the Executive Director will continue to position the organization as a trusted community resource and assure that programming and operations are streamlined to meet the needs of the population served.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Executive Director will assess and identify strategic opportunities at Children’s Trust for discussion with the Board and prepare a program plan and budget based on regional and national best practices for implementation with annual updates.
- As an ex officio Board member, they will work with Board leadership to appropriately position the organization externally, and assure that Board operations, and governance function in support of the Agency.
- Develop and recommend to the Board specific, written, long and short-range plans for the development of programs and services, and help facilitate the development of the strategic plan, assure streamlined operations including oversight of all Agency personnel and resources, deliverables, and finances with internal controls that assures compliance with government and regulatory authorities and annual audits.
- Responsible for all of the organization’s ‘hard assets’ including facilities and technologies.
- Demonstrates proficiency with computer systems and common business software.
- Directs and manages a plan for fund raising including philanthropy, grant submissions, and solicitations to help support the Mission of the organization. Represents Children’s Trust as the face of the organization by direct involvement with community and government leaders, public relations, and other not for profit organizations focused on preventing and addressing child abuse and neglect locally, regionally and nationally.
QUALIFICATIONS
Children’sTrust seeks a dynamic and personable leader with excellent communication skills with a proven track record of advancing a similarly sized, free standing not for profit organization and a passion for serving children and families affected by child abuse and neglect. Senior level leadership experience including managing geographically distributed programs, governance with a voluntary board and committees, and philanthropy are recommended.
Bachelor’s degree required.
