Description:
PURPOSE STATEMENT
Under close supervision, provides technical support for physicians and nurses in the Emergency Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-
Perform phlebotomy.

Perform 12 lead EKGs.

Transport patients to other departments.
-
Place patients on cardiac and vital sign monitor.

Perform Point of Care Testing.
-
Obtain lab specimens and documents all care/procedures provided.

Clean equipment and workspace.
-
Order/stock department supplies.
-
Clerical unit tasks as required/requested.
-
Demonstrate positive customer service relations.
-
Routinely participates in QI projects and encourages department to continuously improve.

Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
-
Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
-
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
-
Perform other essential duties as assigned.
SHIFT REQUIREMENTS
-
3, 12-hour shifts per week.
-
6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Currently licensed as a Patient Care Technician (CPCT-A), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of Missouri.

Minimum of six (6) months direct patient care experience preferred.
- This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.

Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.

Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.

Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.

Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
-
Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
-
Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
-
Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
