Computer Service Technician
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Computer Service Technician to deliver hands-on end-user support and maintain computer systems and network infrastructure. This is a technical, client-facing role that requires both strong diagnostic skills and the ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users. The ideal candidate takes ownership of issues from first contact through resolution and holds themselves to a high standard of documentation and follow-through.
Responsibilities
End-User Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for hardware and software support requests for multiple clients and environments.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to email hosting, email clients, printing, malware/virus infections, OS updates, internet connectivity, network, hardware, and application errors
- Educate end-users on proper computer use, security best practices, and self-service solutions to reduce repeat incidents
Hardware & Software
- Set up, configure, and deploy workstations, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices
- Install, update, and troubleshoot operating systems (Windows 10/11, macOS) and business software applications
- Perform hardware repairs including component replacement (RAM, storage drives, power supplies, displays)
- Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware assets and spare parts
Networking
- Configure and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks, routers, switches, and access points
- Assist with network connectivity issues including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and IP configuration
- Support basic network security tasks including firewall rules and access controls
System Maintenance & Security
- Manage antivirus, endpoint protection, and software patch cycles across all devices
- Perform routine system audits to identify vulnerabilities, outdated software, or failing hardware
- Ensure compliance with data privacy policies and internal security standards
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of all service events, repairs, and configurations in the ticketing system
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as a computer technician, IT support, or help desk role
- CompTIA A+ certification required; Network+, Cloud+ or Security+ strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Windows 10/11 in a professional environment
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Wi-Fi configuration, and common network hardware
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and related software.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs. and work in varied physical environments (server rooms, under desks, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Other IT user-end support related programs.
- Experience with help desk and service tickets.
- Familiarity with remote support tools (Connectwise, Radmin VPN, RDP)
- macOS support experience
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell or batch) for automation tasks

What Disqualifies a Candidate
To help set clear expectations, this role is not a fit for candidates who:
- Computer programmers or Web designers
- Have only self-taught or hobbyist experience with no professional IT environment background
- Cannot provide examples of structured troubleshooting processes they follow
- Lack any industry certification or formal training
- Have no experience working within a ticketing or documented support system
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
