Kitchen Manager
Position Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead our back-of-house team and help build one of downtown Minneapolis’ strongest kitchen cultures.
This is a working manager position, meaning you’ll spend your time leading from the line, coaching cooks in real time, developing systems, and ensuring every plate leaving the kitchen meets our standards. We’re looking for someone who believes great kitchens are built through consistency, accountability, organization, and teamwork.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead by example during every shift by working alongside the kitchen team.
- Hire, interview, onboard, and develop BOH employees.
- Coach cooks through daily feedback and hands-on training.
- Build accountability through clear expectations and consistent follow-up.
- Conduct performance evaluations and development conversations.
- Create weekly schedules while managing labor goals.
Kitchen Operations
- Oversee daily kitchen operations from prep through close.
- Ensure recipes, portions, plating, and execution remain consistent.
- Maintain ticket times while never sacrificing quality.
- Develop prep systems and pars that keep the kitchen ready for service.
- Assist with menu development, seasonal features, recipe costing, and operational improvements.
- Maintain recipe books, kitchen systems, and standard operating procedures.
Inventory & Financial Performance
- Order food and kitchen supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Conduct weekly inventory counts and purchasing reconciliation.
- Control food cost through portion control, waste reduction, and proper product rotation.
- Monitor labor cost and staffing efficiency.
- Utilize Toast, xtraCHEF, and similar systems to improve inventory accuracy and profitability.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
- Ensure proper labeling, dating, storage, and FIFO procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and equipment repairs.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Front of House leadership to create a seamless guest experience.
- Communicate effectively during service to maintain efficient ticket flow.
- Support restaurant-wide initiatives and continuous operational improvement.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or comparable leadership role.
- Experience in a high-volume scratch kitchen preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen organization.
- Proven leadership skills with hiring, coaching, scheduling, and team development.
- Experience managing inventory, purchasing, food cost, and labor cost.
- Working knowledge of Toast POS, MarginEdge, xtraCHEF, or similar restaurant systems preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
