Pay: $32.00–$35.00/hour, based on experience

Join Our Data Center Installation Team
Extreme Technology & Security is looking for an experienced Lead Structured Cabling Technician to join our team for a long-term data center construction project in Red Oak, Texas.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who knows structured cabling, can work productively in a construction environment, and is comfortable coordinating the work of a small field crew.
You will lead a two-person installation team while working alongside the crew to complete large-volume cable installation. The work will primarily involve pulling, routing, identifying, labeling, and dressing low-voltage and structured cabling within existing pathways.
This is a dedicated data center project with a consistent weekday schedule—not a service-call position.
Project Overview
- Long-term assignment at a data center construction project in Red Oak
- Monday–Friday work schedule
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Existing cable trays, raceways, and pathways will be in place before cabling begins
- No conduit installation required
- Fiber splicing is not a primary responsibility
- Installation work will be performed using construction drawings, plans, and cable schedules
- Employees must provide their own transportation to and from the jobsite
- Interviews are conducted at our Weatherford, Texas office
Your Role
As the lead technician, you'll be responsible for helping the crew maintain production, organization, safety, and installation quality.
Your day-to-day work may include:
- Supervising and working directly with a two-person cabling crew
- Planning daily installation activities with the team
- Reviewing drawings, cable schedules, and project documentation
- Pulling large quantities of low-voltage and structured cabling
- Routing cable through existing trays and pathways
- Maintaining clean, organized cable runs
- Dressing and securing cable to project standards
- Applying accurate cable identification and labels
- Inspecting completed work for quality and consistency
- Reporting progress, material needs, and field issues to management
- Keeping work areas orderly and productive
- Following project specifications and company installation procedures
- Enforcing site safety requirements within the crew
- Helping ensure the team stays on schedule without sacrificing workmanship
QualificationsRequired Experience
- Minimum 3 years of structured cabling or low-voltage installation experience
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, plans, and cable schedules
- Experience with high-volume cable pulling and installation
- Experience routing and dressing structured cabling
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Dependable transportation to the Red Oak project
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check
Experience That Is a Plus
- Previous lead technician or crew-lead experience
- Commercial construction experience
- Data center cabling experience
- Experience on large-scale structured cabling projects
- Basic networking knowledge
- Experience operating lifts or other construction equipment
Safety Requirements
Safety and professional jobsite conduct are essential to this position.
Our crews follow a Ladders Last approach, using lifts and scaffolding whenever practical and appropriate.
Employees must be prepared to comply with all site-specific safety procedures and maintain the required PPE, including:
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- High-visibility vest
- Work boots
All required site safety training must be completed and maintained throughout the project.
