The Recovery Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is for the care and supervision of adults residing at The Schultz at Cedar Ridge - a comprehensive drug & alcohol recovery center in downtown Zanesville. Recovery Support Specialists are responsible for implementing assigned treatment services, including physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being and maintaining accurate daily documentation of services provided.
Qualifications:An individual in this position must be able to complete the above responsibilities on a daily basis. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
- All Support Specialists must be at least 21 years of age and must have completed high school or its equivalency
- Chemcial Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certificate preferred but not required
- An Associates degree in a social service field preferred but not required
- Prior experience working with substance abuse and/or mental health individuals
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment
- High-quality written and verbal skills
- Must be willing to get Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certificate if requested by administration.
Job Schedule, Working Conditions, and Performance/Physical Requirements
- Ability and willingness to work weekend and holidays
- Qualified applicants are required to complete a pre-employment screening process which includes a fingerprint background screening, and drug screen. Any employment offer is contingent upon receipt of all satisfactory pre-employment screenings.
Responsibilities:
- Must be willing to work 3rd shift, 11pm-7:30am.
- Supervise clients in his or her charge assuring that a safe and therapeutic environment is maintained for all clients
- Handle emergency situations such as environmental, weather related and physical injury and provide crisis intervention
- Develop and consistently implement predictable routines for daily functioning, including wake-up, hygiene, meals, and bedtime.
- Oversee the completion of resident chores
- Plans and organizes activities and educational groups for residents which promote change and growth in areas identified on their Individual Service Plans.
- Monitor resident behavior, functioning and symptoms, as well as progress towards treatment goals and objectives.
- Present as a role model for residents in establishing relationships, maintains professional care/client boundaries
- Complete all required paperwork daily and participate and satisfactorily complete all required training, supervision and team meetings
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.
- Interacts verbally with clients, families, co-workers, and representatives from outside agencies
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information and records
- Comply with all agency policies and procedures
- In times of need, may be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by his or her supervisor.
