HOURLY RATE INCLUDES $0.75/hr premium.
General Summary:
The Administrative Assistant to the Middle School Principal works under the supervision of the Principal and performs a variety of administrative/clerical duties, which often requires independent judgment.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Establishes, maintains and revises files and records.

Opens, distributes or otherwise handles mail directed to principal.

Greets and assists visitors, staff, and students. Answers telephone and arranges appointments/meeting schedules, and performs duties involving effective communications within the building and community.

Maintains student roster; updates records for student accounting.

Provides guidance to middle school administrative assistant staff.

Coordinates after school use of facilities.
-
Enrolls new students, enters student demographics, and maintains immunization and all other student records.

Supervises the daily substitute teachers; makes sure they have schedules, paperwork, etc. filled out for their visit to site.

Monitors and verifies accounting for building and individual teachers. Queries reports and budget information. Makes deposits for class field trips and fundraisers. Monitors petty cash.

Greets students and public (answer questions, and direct them to their needs).

Administers and records first aid to injured and ill students.

Dispenses medication and maintains accurate records according to prescribed schedule.

Prepares, processes and prints reports as requested.

Coordinates meetings and agendas as requested.

Compiles, processes and distributes student and staff handbook.

Assists with lockdown and other emergency situations.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

College degree and/or previous relevant work experience required.

Advanced knowledge of computers and technology.
-
Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm accurately.

Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on details and time management.

Excellent public relations skills.
-
Ability to deal with injuries.
-
Knowledge of math and accounting principles.

Analytical ability necessary to gather and interpret data.

Demonstrates proficiency in spelling, grammar, and information technologies.

Dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive/confidential information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

CPR and first aid preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis.

Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.

Duties include frequent walking and physical activity, as well as use of hands and arms for signaling and light lifting/carrying. Must have the ability to move about the classroom/building and school property, including bending, pushing/pulling, lifting, twisting, climbing, stooping, or crouching to complete work-related tasks with and without students.

Environmental Conditions:
Incumbents work in indoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. Duties may be completed in cold and hot temperatures, including work on slippery and/or uneven surfaces. Work environment includes working around students, school equipment, and office equipment.
Work Schedules:
Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the district’s school year calendar.
