GENERAL SUMMARY:
Operator is in charge of equipment that directly performs repetitive bench or line assembly and packaging operations to mass-produce finished horns and/or components for horns. Production areas that fit in these categories include AM80S Lines, off-line, and Air Electric/Packaging Areas.
JOB DUTIES:
- Must work in a safe manner at all times, abiding by the rules set for the work area.
- Inspect components for flaws and defects. Manually load components onto machinery, pallets and conveyor belts. Place parts in specified relationship to each other.
- Start and tend machines. Observe their operation and know correct methods of solving minor production, component, equipment, and co-worker problems as they occur.
- Perform various tasks required of a specific work area according to standard methods and procedures given during training.
- Thoroughly understand changeover and setup procedures for equipment in work area. Consistently produce at the standard production rate.
- Gather and submit required production data for scrap, number of units produced, and machine downtime as needed.
- Be flexible to perform various tasks or work at different workstations to meet production requirements.
- Identify possible sources of product contamination and understand impact of contamination on our customers.
- Attend required department meetings with leaders and management to discuss plans, results, problems, and scheduled production.
- Train and instruct others on the proper and safe operation of the production equipment. Immediately report any seen or foreseen problems in work area to leader or management.
- Maintain a clean work environment continuously throughout the shift by properly disposing of debris, cleaning work area and machines as instructed and returning excess components to inventory.
- Adhere to the Environmental, Health & Safety policies to conserve energy and promote recycling. Contain and clean up any spills that may occur before it impacts the environment or community.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING:
- Continuous mental and visual attention required while performing assigned tasks with a high level of accuracy and quality.
- Common intelligence needed to use simple gauges or instruments, respond quickly to production needs, and report problems immediately to supervisor.
- Must follow oral instructions and occasionally use simple writing or arithmetic skills.
- Considerable physical effort required consisting of standing or walking 8-10 hours, continuous lifting up to 40 pounds, twisting, bending and squatting, pushing and pulling, and constant use of arms to fingers to inspect product or components and use gauges or instrument controls.
- Required to wear safety glasses and hearing protection at all times on the production floor. May be required to utilize other safety equipment identified for specific tasks.
