Position Overview
Twin Peaks, Inc., a construction materials testing and special inspections firm, is seeking a qualified ACI Field Technician Grade I to perform TR2 Concrete Sampling and Testing inspections on active construction projects throughout New York City.
This role involves field sampling of freshly placed concrete, preparation of test specimens, and documentation of testing procedures in accordance with applicable ASTM standards and project specifications. Technicians work directly on construction sites during concrete placements and coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure proper sampling and testing procedures.
The ideal candidate holds a current ACI Field Technician Grade I certification, has experience working in construction environments, and is comfortable performing physical field work.
This position primarily supports first-shift concrete placements, though start times may vary depending on project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TR2 Concrete Sampling and Testing inspections on NYC construction sites
- Conduct field testing in accordance with ASTM standards including slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight
- Prepare, label, and secure concrete test cylinders for laboratory testing
- Accurately document sampling procedures and test results in field reports
- Coordinate with contractors and project teams during concrete placements
- Ensure testing procedures comply with project specifications and applicable standards
- Maintain organized documentation of field testing activities
- Follow company safety procedures and site-specific safety requirements
Qualifications
- Current ACI Field Technician Grade I certification required
- Experience performing TR2 concrete sampling and testing inspections preferred
- Familiarity with ASTM testing standards including ASTM C172, C143, C231, C1064, and C138 preferred
- Ability to read construction drawings and understand testing procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
- Ability to work in active construction environments and outdoors in varying conditions
- Reliable transportation to travel to job sites throughout NYC
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, particularly for scheduled concrete placements where timely arrival is critical
Physical Requirements
This role involves physical field work. Candidates must be able to:
- Lift 50 pounds or more for short periods (such as moving a wheelbarrow of freshly mixed concrete during sampling procedures)
- Walk and stand for extended periods on construction sites
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
