Position Overview
Our PRN Registered Nurses provide skilled nursing care to medically fragile pediatric patients while supporting our full-time nursing team by filling staffing needs related to vacations, call-ins, increased census, and other operational needs.
This position is ideal for nurses seeking flexibility while remaining actively involved in pediatric nursing.
PRN Requirement:
- Must work a minimum of three (3) shifts per calendar quarter (every three months) to remain active.
- Must maintain reasonable availability and responsiveness to scheduling requests.
- Additional shifts are frequently available throughout the year.
What You'll Do
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient monitoring
- Administer medications, treatments, and tube feedings
- Care for children with complex medical needs, including tracheostomies, ventilators, feeding tubes, oxygen therapy, and other specialized equipment
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Supervise and support Direct Care Workers
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Help create a safe, compassionate, and engaging environment where every child can thrive
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Mississippi Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred (PPEC, PDN, pediatric home health, hospital, PICU, NICU, pediatrics, or school nursing)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Ability to successfully pass a Mississippi criminal background check
- Ability to complete a TB skin test (or other tuberculosis screening as required) prior to employment
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required as a condition of employment in accordance with MPEC policy
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, therapists, physicians, and fellow team members
- Ability to meet the physical demands of pediatric nursing, including lifting, transferring, and assisting pediatric patients safely
