Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our vibrant dental team! Duties
- Assist dental professionals during patient examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting with dental instruments and equipment.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies.
- Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care, especially for pediatric patients or those undergoing oral surgery or prosthodontics procedures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive strategies to promote long-term dental health.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed to enhance patient management software workflows.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or oral surgery cases.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document patient information.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
- Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques and medical imaging tools like 3D scanners is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of dental equipment operation including intraoral cameras, endodontic tools, prosthodontic devices, and other clinical instruments.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members—including dental assistants—and provide outstanding patient care in a fast-paced environment focused on general dentistry and pediatrics.
