As an
Income Maintenance Caseworker II – NEMT, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Alamance County Medicaid recipients have reliable access to medical care by coordinating non-emergency transportation services. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, helping people navigate systems, and managing details in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES You’ll serve as a trusted representative of the public agency while providing accurate, timely, and professional service to clients and partners by:

Coordinating and authorizing Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation (NEMT) services

Logging and tracking trip requests, approvals, denials, and required notifications

Verifying Medicaid eligibility at the time of request and prior to service delivery

Conducting eligibility determinations and re-determinations through assessments

Documenting eligibility decisions and maintaining accurate transportation records

Uploading payment authorizations and reviewing response files in NC Tracks

Operating the NEMT phone system, responding to calls and messages within 24 hours

Collaborating with transportation vendors, community partners, and internal teams

Processing mileage reimbursement and other travel-related expenses
