Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments through tailored approaches like memory care techniques and behavioral health strategies
- Assist with complex procedures including catheter care, phlebotomy, aseptic techniques in sterile environments, and wound care in acute or sub-acute settings
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various environments such as ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, or behavioral health units to deliver comprehensive patient service
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and using equipment like Hoyer lifts safely during patient transfers
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification recognized by the state licensing board; current CPR/BLS certification required
- Demonstrated experience working in diverse healthcare settings including hospitals (Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center experience preferred), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and records management
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for delivering high-quality patient care
- Experience caring for individuals with complex needs such as infectious diseases, behavioral health conditions, or disabilities including developmental disabilities and working with children or seniors
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting using Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility while maintaining patient safety standards
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary teams across inpatient and outpatient settings
