Job description
The Workover Supervisor is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing completions and workover operations across assets the company owns and operates in the Powder River Basin. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of well servicing, including production and injection well repairs, recompletions, plug and abandonment, re-entry and drillouts, acid stimulation, hydraulic fracturing, and other wellbore intervention activities. The Workover Supervisor will coordinate with service providers and field staff to deliver high-quality wells and maximize asset performance. This role works closely with company management, field operations, maintenance, and HSE personnel to ensure safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible field operations while meeting all applicable Wyoming and federal regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all completion and workover operations in field, including wellbore repairs and reconfigurations, recompletions, wellbore stimulation including acid jobs and hydraulic fracturing, drill-outs, plug and abandonments, re-entries, and other well servicing.
- Supervise company workover rig staff including toolpushers, rig operators, and workover crew.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to all company personnel for workover and completion activities.
- Provide industry expertise in downhole production/injection equipment and tools for managing fluid flow, artificial lift, zonal isolation, wellbore interventions, fishing jobs, perforating, cementing, and other completion tools and equipment.
- Ensure operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and company HSE standards.
- Maintain company workover rig, equipment, and staff to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Know company workover rig capabilities and limitations, regularly assessing and inspecting the Company workover rig and its performance.
- Manage rig preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
- Develop standard operating procedures to improve workover operations.
- Monitor project costs and manage within project budget
- Oversee all well work and service companies, including scheduling workover activities and obtaining competitive pricing for services.
- Make periodic inspections of workover operations to ensure compliance with company HSE policies and standard operating procedures.
- Report all safety hazards, accidents, near-miss incidents, and non-conformance issues and help lead investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with engineers and field production managers to prioritize and schedule all workover activities.
- Understand and use key performance indicators (KPIs) to continuously improve workover operations.
- Be familiar with established well control and workover operational procedures.
- Ensure the stock level of spare parts and consumables for the workover equipment is kept at an appropriate level by requesting the equipment whenever deemed necessary.
- Ensure accurate reporting, job documentation, and data capture in WellView System
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required (4-yr college degree preferred)
- 8–15+ years of oil & gas experience, with significant focus on completions and/or workover operations.
- 3–5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong experience in conventional operations, particularly with workover jobs and well completions.
- Hands-on experience with well control, pressure pumping, snubbing, and coil tubing operations.
- Knowledge of artificial lift systems and well intervention techniques.
- Familiarity with Powder River Basin geology and operating practices preferred.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Must attend well control class and receive certification within 30 days of employment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability for occasional travel. CDL is preferred.
