Job Summary:
The Medication Technician administers medications and provides direct resident care in our Personal Care building, reporting changes to nursing staff and physicians. Responsibilities include documenting conditions, assisting with medical procedures, and supporting emergency protocols. The role also involves mentoring new staff, promoting resident well-being, and ensuring confidentiality. Strong communication, leadership, and physical ability are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care according to department policy and procedures addressing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual concerns.
- Reports pertinent observations, changes and responses regarding resident’s conditions to nurse supervisor/manager and physicians.
- Documents symptoms, responses and changes in resident’s condition.
- Assists physician with resident rounds, procedures and exams if needed. Transcribe, implement and document physician’s orders in all the proper places.
- Demonstrates knowledge, accuracy, skill, judgment and confidence and respect when caring for residents and or speaking with the resident’s families, visitors or physicians.
- Institutes emergency measures for CPR, fire and disaster plans, and elopement.
- Can provide direction and oversight to nurse’s Aides and training of new Med Techs.
- Works well with co-workers being helpful and respectful.
- Demonstrates good time management skills, a positive attitude and flexibility.
- Assists with some clerical work, survey prep and completing audits.
Qualifications Necessary to Perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have high schoo diploma, or equivalent.
- Prior CNA or PCA experience preferred.
- Completion of state approved Med Tech program preferred.
- Previous experiences in personal care/assisted living helpful but not a must.
- Has a passion to care for others and enjoys working with the elderly.
- Sense of responsibility, moral integrity and common sense along with patience and compassion are essential.
- Must be able to work well under pressure, provide proper guidance to nurse’s aides. Demonstrate confidence, be assertive and a good leader.
- Maintain Confidentiality and follow HIPPA.
- Perform the physical requirements of the position including standing, lifting residents, pushing a med cart, bending, stooping, reaching and kneeling.
