About The Butterfly Pig
The Butterfly Pig is a company on a mission to reduce healthcare-induced fear and trauma in children. Founded by a Registered Nurse, our products help kids understand and prepare for medical experiences through play — and they're now used by families and clinicians in 53 countries. We're a small, growing team where your work directly shapes how we operate.
The environment is relaxed, family-run, and there is potential for this role to expand into full-time if interested.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Operations Assistant to handle our 3D printing production. You'll keep our printers running, decide what gets printed and when based on orders and inventory, and help us build better systems as we grow. This role is equal parts maker, quality inspector, and problem-solver.
What You'll Do
- Run and maintain our fleet of 3D printers, including routine maintenance, calibration, and repairs
- Review incoming orders and current inventory to determine daily print-on-demand priorities
- Inspect finished prints for quality and consistency — catching defects before they reach a customer
- Troubleshoot printer issues (failed prints, extrusion problems, bed adhesion, firmware quirks) and get machines back online quickly
- Help create and document operational systems: print schedules, maintenance logs, inventory workflows, and quality checklists
- Communicate clearly with the team about production status, supply needs, and any bottlenecks
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience with 3D printers — professional or serious hobbyist experience both count
- Strong troubleshooting instincts; you can diagnose a failed print and know where to start
- Sharp attention to detail — our products go to children and families, and quality matters
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-directed and organized; comfortable managing your own production queue
- Interest in building systems and processes, not just following them
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience with slicing software (e.g., PrusaSlicer, Cura, Bambu Studio) and print farm management
- Familiarity with inventory or order management tools
- Experience in a small business or startup environmen
