Job Title: Environmental Service Technician
Reports To: Director of Operation
Department: Facilities / Maintenance / Housekeeping
Hourly rate: Staring at minimum wage, depending on experience
Location: Farmville, VA
Job Summary:
The Environmental Service Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for all building occupants. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of cleaning and sanitation duties in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and disinfect floors, walls, surfaces, restrooms, and high-touch areas in the classroom and other shared areas
- Collect, bag, and properly dispose of waste and recycling materials
- Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaners
- Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and sanitizers
- Ensure all cleaning and storage areas are properly stocked and maintained
- Report maintenance or safety issues to the Director of Operations promptly
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous custodial or housekeeping experience preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning products
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene and safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods
Schedule:
- Part-time
- Mid-afternoon to early evening
Work Environment:
- May be exposed to cleaning products and various environmental conditions
- Requires frequent standing, walking, and manual tasks
