Buildwell Law | Austin, TX | Full-Time | Remote (with Required In-Person Availability)
This Isn't a Typical Attorney Job.
No arbitrary face time. No micromanagement. No billing quotas that consume your life.
At Buildwell Law, we've built a compensation model around one idea: your time is your most valuable asset — and we treat it that way.
We're looking for a licensed litigation attorney in Texas who is sharp, client-obsessed, and ready to own their caseload in the areas of commercial/business, construction and real estate litigation — on a schedule that actually fits your life, without sacrificing the quality of work our clients deserve.
What Makes This Role Different
- A Real Schedule — Not a Suggestion. This role is structured around a reduced annual hour target — averaging fewer than 30 hours of professional time per week. That includes client work, admin, and CLE. If you're hitting your targets, your schedule is yours to manage.
- Flexible, Trust-Based PTO - We don't count days off. As long as you're pacing toward your annual targets and your cases are covered, take the time you need. Just keep management in the loop — a quick heads-up that your cases are handled and you'll be out is all we ask. No accruals. No approval chains. No guilt.
- Mostly Remote — With Real Commitments. - This is a remote-first position, but this is still litigation. You will appear at hearings and trials in person as required by the matter. You'll also join weekly virtual team meetings to stay connected, aligned, and collaborative. If you're looking for zero in-person obligations, this isn't the right fit.
Competitive Guaranteed Base Salary
A strong, guaranteed annual foundation — provided you meet your minimum billable hour commitment. Hit your baseline, and your base is protected. It's straightforward, transparent, and designed to give you real financial security.
Uncapped Performance Bonus — Two Ways to Earn
Beyond your base, you directly participate in collections through a dual-track bonus structure:
- Firm-Assigned Work: Once you've met your baseline hours for the quarter, you earn a meaningful percentage of every dollar collected on firm-assigned matters on top of your baseline. The firm brings you the work — you focus on executing and collecting.
- Client Origination: Bring in your own clients and earn an even higher percentage of every dollar collected. The more of your own network you activate, the more you keep.
There is no cap. There is no ceiling. Your earnings scale directly with your results — with full transparency, no hidden metrics, and no moving goalposts.
Health & Wellness Benefit
Choose the option that works best for you: a monthly taxable stipend deposited directly to you, or enrollment in our QSEHRA reimbursement program to offset qualified medical and wellness expenses on a tax-advantaged basis.
Home Office Stipend
An annual allowance for hardware, connectivity, and workspace upgrades.
Retirement
401k Program available.
What You'll Do
- Own a litigation caseload from the moment a client converts through intake — all the way to resolution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for your clients throughout the life of their matter — you are their advocate, their advisor, and their anchor
- Appear at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as required
- Attend weekly virtual team meetings and stay coordinated with firm leadership
- Optionally develop and grow your own book of business for enhanced earnings
- Uphold a strong fiduciary duty to both your clients and the firm at every stage
You Won't Be Doing This Alone
You'll have dedicated paralegal, administrative, and billing staff supporting your caseload. The infrastructure is here — your job is to focus on your clients and your cases.
Practice Area Focus
Our primary litigation docket centers on construction disputes, real estate litigation, and commercial/business matters. Experience in one or more of these areas is REQUIRED. If you've spent time in the trenches on these case types — owner-contractor disputes, title and boundary conflicts, breach of commercial agreements — you'll feel right at home.
This Role Is a Strong Fit If You...
- Are an active, licensed attorney in Texas (required)
- Have 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in construction, real estate, or commercial disputes
- Genuinely enjoy client relationships and take pride in being the person your clients trust and rely on
- Operate with a high degree of personal accountability — you manage your calendar, your caseload, and your commitments
- Don't need someone looking over your shoulder to stay on track
- Are entrepreneurially minded and interested in building your own book over time
This Role Is NOT the Right Fit If You...
- Prefer to hand off client communication or avoid direct client contact
- Need daily direction or close oversight to manage your workload
- Are unwilling or unable to appear in person for hearings and trials
- Are not licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar
