Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Newspaper Editor and Publisher to lead our team in delivering compelling, accurate, and engaging content across our publication. Duties
- Review and approve all articles, features, and multimedia content to ensure adherence to AP style guidelines and journalistic standards
- Coordinate with reporters, photographers, and social media managers to produce diverse content including written stories, photographs, videos, and social media posts
- Edit articles for clarity, accuracy, grammar, spelling, and consistency; perform fact-checking to uphold credibility
- Oversee the editing process for copywriting, proofreading, and copy editing to maintain high-quality publication standards
- Manage content scheduling to meet publication deadlines while balancing news priorities and audience interests
- Lead research efforts on current events and background information to support accurate reporting and compelling storytelling
- Collaborate with the social media team to optimize content distribution across digital platforms and engage with readers effectively
Qualifications
- Proven experience in journalism or editorial roles with strong editing skills and familiarity with AP style
- Proficiency in photography and videography; experience with video production is highly desirable
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to reach diverse audiences effectively
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to direct teams and convey editorial vision clearly
- Strong writing skills with a talent for compelling storytelling across various formats
- Detail-oriented with exceptional proofreading, fact-checking, and copy editing capabilities
- Knowledge of social media management tools and strategies for digital engagement
- Ability to research thoroughly and synthesize complex information into accessible content
