DEPARTMENT: Education & Parent Support Services
LOCATION: Brooklyn/Queens/Brentwood
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Coach provides long-term, youth-driven coaching to adolescents and young adults (ages 14–21) in either foster care, residential, or Close to Home placements, including during community reentry. Using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach, the Coach supports youth in achieving goals related to education, career development, housing, financial literacy, and independent living. Coaches build consistent, trusting relationships, connect youth to meaningful opportunities and resources, and provide ongoing social-emotional support to promote stability and long-term success.
I. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide one-on-one coaching, mentorship, and social-emotional support in community-based settings.
- Help youth set and achieve individualized academic, career, housing, and life skills goals.
- Support school engagement, career exploration, and workforce development.
- Assist with housing preparation, independent living skills, and transition planning.
- Coordinate care with families, providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Facilitate groups, maintain documentation, attend training, and support program participation.
II. SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Extensive experience working with youth.
- Experience in Education and Foster Care (preferred).
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required.
- Bilingual applicants strongly encouraged to apply.

- Experience working with diverse or high-need populations
- Commitment to trauma-informed, youth-centered practice
- Ability to work compassionately and without judgment with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ or are exploring their identity.
