Cedar Pet Supply is a fast-paced, high-energy pet store specializing in puppies, reptiles, fish, and small animals. We are looking for a motivated, sales-driven Sales Associate who thrives in a customer-focused environment and is ready to make an immediate impact on store performance.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong sales background who naturally takes initiative, leads by example, and wants the opportunity to grow into a larger role over time.
Position Overview
This is not a typical retail position. At Cedar Pet Supply, Sales Associates are expected to actively engage customers, drive revenue, and create a high-converting sales environment.
You will play a key role in improving overall sales performance, supporting team success, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Customer Experience
- Take initiative in approaching and engaging every customer
- Confidently guide customers through puppy sales, including pricing, care, and financing options
- Build strong value in animals and products through education and connection
- Consistently meet and exceed individual and team sales goals
- Upsell and cross-sell products (food, habitats, accessories, etc.)
- Help create a high-energy, results-driven sales floor
Team Contribution & Leadership Potential
- Lead by example through strong sales performance and work ethic
- Support and motivate team members during shifts
- Help maintain a focused, sales-driven environment
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve sales and customer experience
Animal Knowledge & Care Support
- Learn and communicate proper care for puppies, reptiles, fish, and small animals
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate supplies and habitats
- Support basic animal care tasks as needed
Store Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor
- Restock merchandise and assist with inventory
- Execute merchandising displays and promotions
- Accurately process transactions using POS systems
Puppy Sales Expectations
- Comfortable discussing pricing, financing, and long-term commitment of pet ownership
- Ability to confidently guide customers toward making a decision
- Strong communication skills with both empathy and assertiveness
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on closing sales
- Willingness to learn and follow Cedar Pet Supply’s structured sales approach
Qualifications
- Sales experience REQUIRED (commission-based or high-volume retail strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals
- Strong communication and closing skills
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative
- Natural leadership qualities and team-oriented mindset
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
Availability
- Open availability required, including weekends and holidays
- Flexibility to work peak traffic hours
