We’re currently seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician to help us build and scale a high-performing manufacturing operation from the ground up.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that boats, pontoons, and marine components meet the company's quality, safety, and performance standards throughout the manufacturing process. This position performs inspections, identifies defects, documents quality concerns, and collaborates with production teams to drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality marine products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform in-process and final inspections of boats, pontoons, trailers, and marine components to verify compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Inspect aluminum welds, structural assemblies, electrical systems, plumbing, flooring, upholstery, rigging, and finished cosmetic surfaces for quality and workmanship.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring equipment such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other precision tools.
- Verify proper installation and functionality of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
- Document inspection results, quality issues, and non-conforming materials using company quality systems and inspection reports.
- Identify defects and work closely with production supervisors, team leads, and engineering to implement corrective actions.
- Perform root cause investigations and assist in developing preventive measures to reduce recurring quality concerns.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety policies, and applicable marine industry regulations.
- Participate in first-article inspections, product audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Verify that completed products meet customer expectations for fit, finish, appearance, functionality, and overall craftsmanship.
- Assist with warranty investigations and quality trend analysis when needed.
- Maintain organized inspection records and quality documentation.
- Support production by providing timely feedback to minimize rework and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Participate in internal quality training and cross-functional improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Quality Assurance, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of quality control or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in marine, boat, recreational vehicle (RV), automotive, or heavy manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of quality inspection methods and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic quality documentation systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong experience in:
- Knowledge of quality management principles and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with aluminum fabrication, welding, assembly, electrical systems, and marine manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple inspections while maintaining accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production, engineering, and leadership teams.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
