Mentoring Center Director
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin
Position Summary
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin (BBBSNEW) is seeking a passionate, organized, and relationship-driven Mentoring Center Director to lead the daily operations and programming of our new Mentoring Center opening in downtown Green Bay in fall 2026. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will create a welcoming, engaging environment where youth, families, mentors, and community partners feel connected and supported.
The Mentoring Center Director will oversee programming for youth waiting to be matched with a mentor, coordinate group mentoring opportunities, and manage the overall operations and scheduling of the Mentoring Center. The Director will also play a leadership role in volunteer recruitment efforts, working closely with the Community Engagement Manager and Program Team to ensure consistent outreach and community engagement activities that build a strong pipeline of mentors and reduce youth waitlists.
As a member of the agency's leadership team, the Mentoring Center Director will help advance organizational goals related to youth engagement, volunteer recruitment, community partnerships, and overall mission impact.
Essential Responsibilities
Mentoring Center Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the Mentoring Center, ensuring the space is safe, welcoming, and engaging for youth, families, volunteers, and community partners.
- Coordinate scheduling and use of the Mentoring Center for mentoring matches, programs, meetings, and events.
- Maintain center supplies, programming materials, and equipment.
- Support facility policies, procedures, and risk management practices.
- Create a positive and inclusive environment that reflects the mission and values of BBBSNEW.
Waitlist Youth Engagement
- Develop and facilitate structured programming and enrichment opportunities for youth currently waiting to be matched with a mentor.
- Build positive relationships with youth and families during the waiting period to ensure ongoing connection and engagement.
- Create opportunities focused on leadership development, social-emotional learning, community connection, and confidence building.
- Ensure youth on the waitlist remain engaged and connected to BBBSNEW while awaiting a mentoring match.
Volunteer Recruitment & Community Engagement
- Partner with the Community Engagement Manager to support agency-wide mentor recruitment efforts and community outreach initiatives.
- Help coordinate recruitment-related activities across the Program Team, ensuring outreach efforts are occurring consistently and effectively throughout the service area.
- Represent BBBSNEW at community events, employer presentations, volunteer fairs, and networking opportunities to increase awareness of mentoring opportunities.
- Help identify and cultivate relationships with businesses, civic groups, schools, faith communities, and other organizations that can support volunteer recruitment.
- Promote a culture in which volunteer recruitment is a shared responsibility among all Program Team members.
- Monitor recruitment and outreach efforts in collaboration with the Community Engagement Manager and recommend opportunities for growth and improvement.
Match Support & Community Engagement
- Help create meaningful activity opportunities for mentors and Littles.
- Assist with volunteer engagement and mentor retention efforts through positive relationship-building experiences.
- Support special events, recognition activities, and initiatives that strengthen mentor engagement.
- Represent BBBSNEW at community events and partner meetings as needed.
Data & Program Outcomes
- Track participation, engagement, and program outcomes related to Mentoring Center activities.
- Monitor recruitment and outreach efforts in collaboration with the Community Engagement Manager.
- Assist in evaluating program effectiveness and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Support grant reporting and storytelling efforts by collecting participant feedback and success stories.
- Utilize data to inform programming decisions and demonstrate impact to stakeholders and funders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, youth development, psychology, communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience working with youth, volunteers, nonprofit programming, or related fields.
- Experience planning, facilitating, and evaluating youth programs or community-based initiatives.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Experience building partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database or CRM systems.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
