Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled 1099 Drop Bury Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, burying, and maintaining underground fiber optic and telecommunication cables with precision and safety. Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and trenchers to dig trenches for underground cabling projects efficiently and safely
- Install, bury, and secure fiber optic cables, telecommunication lines, and low voltage wiring according to schematics and industry standards
- Conduct fiber splicing and testing to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance
- Use hand tools and power tools to prepare work sites, assemble components, and perform maintenance tasks
- Follow detailed schematics, blueprints, and safety protocols during installation processes
- Climb poles or structures as needed for cable placement or maintenance using climbing gear
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot network infrastructure issues related to LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet connections, WAN (Wide Area Network), telephony systems, and electrical components
Skills
- Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunication or construction industries
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation including bucket trucks, trenchers, and power tools
- Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and cabling installation procedures
- Familiarity with computer networking concepts such as LAN, Ethernet, WAN, low voltage wiring, schematics, and network infrastructure
- Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics accurately
- Excellent climbing skills for working on poles or elevated structures safely
- Electrical experience related to low voltage systems and telephony setups is highly desirable
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients during project execution
