Job Overview
Local lower shop is seeking a creative, experienced, and customer-focused Floral Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing everyday floral arrangements, sympathy work, weddings, events, and special occasion florals. This individual should be passionate about flowers, possess excellent customer service skills, and thrive in a fast-paced floral environment. Management and leadership experience is highly desirable, as this role may assist with daily operations, team training, inventory management, and shop oversight.
Responsibilities
Floral Design
- Create fresh, beautiful floral arrangements for:
- Everyday occasions
- Birthday and celebration bouquets
- Anniversary arrangements
- Sympathy and funeral work
- Wedding florals
- Corporate events
- Holiday designs
- Custom floral requests
- Design floral centerpieces, vase arrangements, casket sprays, standing sprays, wreaths, urn pieces, and tribute arrangements.
- Prepare wedding and event florals including bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages,
- ceremony flowers, and reception centerpieces.
- Maintain design standards and quality expectations.
Customer Service
- Assist customers in person, by phone, and online.
- Make recommendations based on occasion, budget, and floral availability.
- Process orders accurately and professionally.
- Handle customer concerns with professionalism and care.
Shop Operations
- Receive, process, and condition fresh flowers and greens.
- Monitor floral inventory and supplies.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, coolers, and display spaces.
- Assist with merchandising and floral displays.
Event & Delivery Support
- Assist with event setup and floral installations.
- Prepare orders for delivery and pickup.
- Ensure all arrangements meet quality standards before leaving the shop.
Leadership (Preferred)
- Train and mentor junior designers.
- Assist with scheduling and workflow management.
- Help oversee daily shop operations.
- Support ownership with inventory planning and ordering.
- Serve as acting manager when needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years professional floral design experience.
- Strong knowledge of fresh flowers, greenery, floral mechanics, and design principles.
- Experience creating:
- Everyday arrangements
- Sympathy designs
- Wedding florals
- Event florals
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak floral seasons.
Preferred
- Floral shop management or supervisory experience.
- Experience with wedding consultations and event proposals.
- Knowledge of floral POS systems and wire services.
- Driver's license with clean driving record.
- AIFD, CFD, or formal floral education is a plus.
