Schoolwide Teacher Aide K-5
The Schoolwide Teacher Aide is a multi-faceted position supporting a variety of classrooms, grades, and clerical services. The best candidates are flexible, have strong communication and interpersonal skills and contribute to maintaining a positive learning environment for students and colleagues alike. This role assists with instructional activities, classroom management, student supervision, and administrative support while helping foster a safe, engaging, and arts-integrated educational experiences aligned with Rowlett Academy’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce skills
- Utilize manipulatives and other support materials for differentiated instruction
- Assist with the development of instructional materials
Classroom Management
- Help maintain a safe, orderly learning environment
- Enforce classroom rules and managing student behavior under the teacher’s direction
Student Supervision
- Escort and supervise students during non-class periods, such as arrivals, dismissals, restroom visits, recess and school functions
- Assist with transitions, routines, and organization
Clerical Support & Preparation
- Grade assignments, prepare bulletin boards and displays, and set up instructional equipment.
- Assist front office with phones, filing, visitor arrival/departure, and attendance
Lunch Monitor
- Monitor behavior and enforce school rules using positive reinforcement and established discipline procedures.
- Help younger students carry trays, open milk cartons, unwrap food, and use utensils.
- Wipe down cafeteria tables between lunch waves, sweep up floor trash, and ensure the eating area is clean for the next group.
- Oversee grade-level transitions, give time warnings, anddismiss classes in an orderly manner.
- Accompany students to the nurse or restroom, and assist in reporting maintenance or behavioral issues to school administration.
Record Keeping
- Assist the teacher in tracking learning progress, monitoring deficiencies, and helping prepare required documentation
Collaboration
- Work closely with teachers, staff, and administration
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and colleagues
- Participate in staff meetings and school events as required
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Rowlett Academy
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods
- Ability to move from building to building on the campus
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
- Ability to speak and hear clearly for communication
- Ability to use both gross and fine motor skills for use with instructional materials
- Ability to supervise students in classroom, playground, and school settings
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children K–5
- Ability to follow instructional guidance and work collaboratively
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude, patience, and professionalism
- Ability to pass background screening and meet school district requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in arts-integrated or project-based learning environments
- Knowledge of classroom technology and educational software
- CPR/First Aid certification

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
