Shipping & Receiving Clerk — Temp-to-Hire

Seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Shipping & Receiving Clerk to support a fast-paced warehouse and dispatch operation. This role is responsible for receiving materials, preparing outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, unpack, and organize incoming shipments and materials.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment while meeting daily schedules.
- Create shipping labels and complete shipping documentation accurately.
- Coordinate shipping and freight activity, including tracking shipment details, costs, receipt dates, and products shipped.
- Use warehouse organization systems and technology to locate, gather, and manage inventory.
- Maintain organized shipping records and update internal systems as needed.
- Order and maintain packaging materials through the ERP system.
- Troubleshoot shipping, freight, documentation, and customer-service issues to support efficient operations.
- Work closely with warehouse and shipping team members to complete orders on time.
- Develop familiarity with freight, shipping, and applicable labeling practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–2 years of warehouse, shipping, receiving, freight, or related experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills and comfort working with inventory or ERP systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and shipping documentation.
- Strong internal and external customer-service skills.
- Self-motivated team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Prior experience with shipping and freight processes is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hazardous-material labeling is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and move throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely use common warehouse equipment, including hand trucks, pallet jacks, utility knives, and computers.
