Astrion has an opening for an Engineer/Scientist supporting the U.S. Navy’s SPY-6 Radar Program and Foreign Military Sales activities located on-site at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren in Dahlgren, VA.
Role and Responsibilities

Perform systems engineering and technical analysis supporting potential SPY-6 integration on foreign naval platforms.

Develop and evaluate radar concepts, system architectures, requirements, and interface solutions.

Define, decompose, allocate, and maintain system and subsystem requirements across hardware and software.

Develop and assess system specifications, requirements baselines, capability documents, and interface control documents.
-
Evaluate the completeness, consistency, traceability, and technical compliance of component and interface requirements.

Apply model-based systems engineering processes, methods, and tools to requirements management, architecture development, design analysis, and technical decision-making.

Conduct radar performance analysis and assess the technical feasibility of proposed system configurations.

Develop models and analytical tools supporting system-performance prediction, assessment, and verification.

Support radar, combat-system, ship-platform, and subsystem integration activities.

Provide focused test and evaluation support, including test planning, data analysis using MATLAB or comparable tools, and documentation of engineering results.

Prepare reports, technical assessments, briefings, and recommendations documenting radar-concept feasibility.

Participate in technical interchanges and program-planning discussions with Government, industry, and international stakeholders.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics.

Engineering degrees must be from a school with at least one ABET-accredited professional engineering curriculum.

Four to six years of relevant engineering or scientific experience; advanced education may be considered toward the experience requirement.

Experience supporting systems engineering for radar, sensor, combat-system, shipboard, or similarly complex technical systems.

Experience with requirements development, decomposition, allocation, traceability, system specifications, or interface definition.

Experience applying MBSE methods or tools to architecture, requirements, or system-design activities.

Experience conducting technical analyses and preparing engineering reports and presentations.

Some experience supporting Foreign Military Sales, international programs, or integration of U.S. defense systems onto foreign platforms.

Must be able to work on-site at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren.

Must be a U.S. citizen.
Desired Qualifications

Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, or a related STEM discipline.

Experience supporting SPY-6 or another advanced radar program.

Experience with radar-system architecture, radar performance, signal processing, or sensor integration.

Experience assessing shipboard integration constraints and interfaces.

Experience with MATLAB, modeling and simulation, or other engineering-analysis tools.

Familiarity with DoD acquisition and Foreign Military Sales processes.

Experience communicating technical information to international customers or partners.
Security Requirements

Must have a current DoD Secret security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a minimum DoD Secret clearance.
