American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Behavioral Health position requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel experience.

Work in the Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit of a hospital setting
-
Patient ratio of 1:8
-
Day shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 7:00-20:00) on a 36/48 alternating schedule
-
Every other weekend (EOW) required
-
May float to ER or Med Surg as needed

Epic charting system preferred
-
Active RN license (TX or Compact) in hand required
-
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
-
Prior travel nursing experience required
-
Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Experience with psychiatric medications including antianxiety, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers preferred

Skilled in behavior management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques
-
Experience caring for patients with anxiety, bipolar, depressive, personality, and psychotic disorders as well as self-injurious and suicidal behavior

Experience with emergent chemical restraints and physical hold protocols preferred
-
Knowledge of seclusion protocols and voluntary/involuntary commitment procedures preferred

Provide direct care to adult psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit
-
Perform blood glucose monitoring, oxygen administration, and on-unit telemetry monitoring as needed
-
Manage medication administration for various psychiatric conditions
-
Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage assaultive or self-injurious behavior
-
Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
-
Candidates should avoid CBD products and other substances that could result in a positive drug screen prior to arrival onsite

Must reside outside a 110-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
