Kids-N-Cribs Child Care Center is looking for a dependable, energetic, and caring Assistant Teacher to join our team! We are seeking someone who is looking for a long-term position and wants to become an important part of our school family.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands that teamwork and reliability are essential.
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Teacher, you will:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
- Supervise children while ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Interact positively with children through play, activities, and daily routines.
- Help with diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, and general classroom care.
- Prepare classroom materials and help implement age-appropriate activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members.
- Float between classrooms as needed to maintain required teacher-to-child ratios.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom throughout the day.
- Assist with end-of-day closing responsibilities, including cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, bathrooms, toys, cots, tables, floors, and common areas to ensure the center is ready for the next day.
Schedule
- Summer hours vary from week to week based on enrollment and staffing needs.
- Afternoon and evening availability is required.
- Some shifts may extend until approximately 7:30 PM.
- There may be opportunities for additional hours during the summer.
- Fall hours may be reduced depending on the needs of the center once schools resume.
- Applicants should not have other commitments that would interfere with afternoon availability during the school year (school year shifts are typically 3pm-730pm).

Working in child care is incredibly rewarding, but it is also physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. Every day is different, and flexibility is essential. We are looking for someone who understands that working in a licensed child care program comes with responsibilities beyond simply showing up for their scheduled shift.
This may not be the right position for you if you are unwilling or unable to:
- Adjust your schedule when the needs of the center change.
- Occasionally change shift hours or work different days when necessary.
- Work in different classrooms based on staffing needs.
- Complete all required state paperwork and training by the required deadlines.
- Keep all required certifications and documentation current throughout your employment.
State Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
Employment in a licensed Massachusetts child care program requires maintaining all state-required documentation and certifications. These requirements are mandatory and are the employee's responsibility to keep current, including:
- Background Record Check (BRC) and fingerprinting as required by the state.
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification (renewed every two years).
- Annual physical examination.
- Proof of required immunizations.
- Annual renewal of required Massachusetts state registry information.
- Completion and annual renewal of all state-mandated trainings.
- A minimum of 15 hours of professional development training each year (or as required by state regulations).
- Any additional documentation or certifications required by state licensing regulations.
These requirements are non-negotiable and are conditions of employment.
